Abstract
Purpose: The present research has investigated mental and psychological spaces in cognitive linguistics based on the framework of Fauconier's theory in the prayer of Abu Hamzah Samali.
Materials and methods: The research method is analytical-descriptive. The data were collected in a library manner and with the help of a questionnaire. Then, a number of prayers containing mental spaces were selected for review.
Findings: Through their cognitive analysis, it was determined that this type of (religious) discourse, on a macro level, can be examined from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, and on a smaller level, the framework of Fauconier's mental spaces is efficient for its interpretation.
Conclusion: The researcher came to the conclusion that the goal of every writer or speaker is to influence the audience by sending his message to him, who tries to create space consciously or unconsciously; Spaces that are the result of combining words through structures and space makers. This research has important and valuable points for examining other discourses that can be used by other researchers. One of the practical fields is the effect of prayer on mental health, prevention and treatment of anxiety.
