Abstract
Opioids (narcotics) or euphoria is a general name for various types of drugs and traditional and chemical compounds that usually have a soothing and euphoric effect and are often classified as addictive substances due to the possibility of dependence on their use. This research was conducted with the aim of semiotic analysis of opioids in the works of two classical poets (Molvi) and contemporary poets (Nusrat Rahmani). The descriptive analytical research method and the method of data collection was library studies. The hypothesis of the authors is an emphasis on the fact that both Molavi and Rahmani have mentioned opioids as a factor to forget pain and suffering in their poems and condemned it. The findings of the article showed that from Molvi's point of view (representative of classical poetry), opium has three negative functions: first; It has been a factor in turning humans into animals (forgetting human originality), second; It is considered a factor for the destruction, incompetence and worthlessness of people (mentality) and third; It is an obstacle to reach the true lover. Molavi finally suggests that only belonging to the true lover, that is, God, can make a person happy, and this is a state that cannot be achieved with any opiate. Meanwhile, in Rahmani's poems (representative of contemporary poetry), the negative function of opium in three dimensions, individual, family and community, has been highlighted.
