Abstract
Health and spirituality have always been regarded as two fundamental dimensions of human existence, attracting significant attention and research. Physical health, as the primary level of health, has long been a focus of human concern, with extensive efforts made to combat diseases and physical injuries. On the other hand, spirituality, as a deeper dimension of human existence, has manifested through religious and philosophical traditions, playing a pivotal role in the spiritual and psychological development of individuals. Among various religions, Islam, as a comprehensive faith, offers a unique approach to spirituality, presenting it through mystical, ethical, and philosophical frameworks. These three intellectual currents, rooted in the history of Islam, converge on a common feature termed "spirituality," all asserting that through their teachings, humans can transcend the superficial to reach the profound, attaining a deeper understanding of monotheism (Tawhid) and the essence of existence. Religious beliefs and practices, rituals, ethics, and spiritual experiences, particularly prayer and supplication, play a significant role in inducing states of spiritual ecstasy and tranquility in individuals. Within this context, spiritual health, as the fourth dimension of human health, is the primary focus of this study. Spiritual health, defined here as wholesome and desirable spirituality, constitutes the central theme of this article. The aim of this research is to explore the nature and essence of spiritual health based on Quranic and traditional (Hadith) foundations.
