Abstract
The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating hijab and chastity and their roles in mental health, as well as the well-being of the family and society.Hijab and chastity are among the most controversial cultural topics that have consistently been the subject of many discussions and criticisms. It is possible that by scientifically proving the effects of hijab on mental health, a new path may open toward the expansion and promotion of hijab culture in society—especially since, in recent years, this issue has become increasingly debated. There is no doubt that observing the Islamic dress code has significant effects on women's mental well-being. These effects can be evaluated through the consequences reflected in various components of mental health. The impact of hijab can be analyzed on both individual and societal levels. One of the most important aspects of mental health—namely, inner peace and reassurance—is undoubtedly one of the primary benefits hijab offers to women. A calm and peaceful environment serves as a foundation for both personal and social development.Other positive outcomes include mental security, self-respect, psychological integrity, emotional and social maturity, physical health, and the regulation of natural desires for physical display. These are among the individual benefits of hijab on women’s mental health and the well-being of the family and community. Moreover, hijab contributes to preserving family cohesion, enabling women’s academic, professional, and social freedom, upholding the ethical and moral structure of society, improving female workforce productivity, and preventing cultural and political infiltration. As a final conclusion, it can be firmly stated that the hijab plays a major role in enhancing mental health and in strengthening family and societal structures—reflecting the core philosophy behind the divine ruling on hijab
