Abstract
Paradigm-based design in a mental hospital or the treatment environment of this hospital is different from the basic principles and design system based on the existing spatial standard. Because the text and context in the structure of the mental hospital have a separate relationship in reading and creating meaning in the patient's mind. Therefore, for an architect, the type of attitude and knowledge of theoretical sciences between different fields is necessary. The meaning of this attitude is, in fact, a philosophical insight that cannot be overcome by rational analysis. Because standardization based on this philosophy can itself help the treatment process. This concept is established as an important part of the discourse of paradigm effects in the creation of space in this article. The purpose of this research is to bring the scientific paradigms raised in the postmodern era, which have an impact in the theoretical field of architecture, into the field of design and standardization of mental hospitals in the majority of architectural elements
and standardization of physical space. The method used in this research is qualitative methods and logical reasoning. Argument from the findings based on the paradigms and types of mental illness and their type of treatment, it can be said that sensory architecture is responsive to the functioning of the human psyche, which causes the arousal of feelings towards the perception of the meaning of the environment. Therefore, the patient can get help from his physical environment by receiving emotions in improving mood and behavior, mental cognition and better perception. Landmarks and spatial patterns are related to disease-based features. Therefore, the use of these paradigms or a combination of them in the spatial standard can be closely related to the special situations of the types of patients and the type of disease with a specific spatial pattern. Also, some new approaches among psychologists point to the influence of religion and faith in mental health. Great psychologists such as William James, Carl Jung and Henry Link have stated the great influence of faith on mental peace, self-confidence and spiritual strength of human beings. From there, relaxation from the perspective of "Holy Quran" has been emphasized, therefore, relaxation for mental patients can be considered as one of the supreme goals in the architectural design of the interior spaces of mental hospitals.
