Abstract
In recent years, the discussion of "Islamic medicine" has gained significant attention, attracting both proponents and opponents. Some believe that relying solely on the Quran and hadiths can cure diseases, even to the extent of disregarding modern medical science. This study examines Sheikh Saduq's perspective on medical hadiths and their validity. The main objective of the research is to explain his view that these hadiths lack practical authority for treating illnesses. The study emphasizes the necessity of specialized evaluation of medical hadiths by both hadith scholars and medical professionals. It identifies criteria for validating medical hadiths, including certainty of issuance, generality of the audience, and absence of conditions, while proposing a scientific approach to dealing with such narrations. Using a descriptive-analytical method, the research analyzes Sheikh Saduq's approach in Al-I'tiqadat toward medical hadiths. The findings reveal that Sheikh Saduq categorized these hadiths and concluded that they lack practical validity and cannot be solely relied upon for treatment. Furthermore, given the need for clear validation criteria and the sensitivity of health-related matters, experts in hadith and medicine must collaborate in critically examining these narrations—both in terms of chain (sanad) and content (matn). Only hadiths with definitive issuance, addressed to the general public without conditions, can be considered reliable.
