Abstract
Background and Objective: This research aims to explain the position and dimensions of self-worth from the perspective of the Holy Quran and to investigate the role of this perspective in strengthening spiritual health and preventing self-destructive behaviors, especially suicide. This research attempts to demonstrate, through the analysis of verses related to dignity and self-esteem, how the Quran’s monotheistic and dignity-based perspective view of humanity can be effective in reconstructing the meaning of life and coping with psychological and existential crises.
Methods: This research was conducted using a library-based method and a descriptive-analytical approach. The necessary data was obtained from the Holy Quran and analyzed.
Findings: a) Recognizing one’s divine identity creates meaning in life. B) Quranic teachings, by instilling the concepts of “divine responsibility,” “trials as tests,” and “hope in God’s mercy” (Zumar: 53), prevent individuals from falling into despair and self-destruction. C) Preventing suicide, from the Quran’s perspective, involves restoring the meaning of life and self-worth. D) Human dignity in the Quran is an innate and inherent quality. E) Self-actualization and valuable dignity are the products of a person’s spiritual choices.
Conclusion: The Quran, by providing a monotheistic framework for interpreting life’s hardships and sufferings, gives humans profound meaning and a lofty purpose. Therefore, the Quran’s bestowal of dignity upon humanity can act as a barrier against suicide resulting from spiritual collapse
